Andrea Branzi has worked in collaboration with various companies in Italy which specialize in various design work. He has also managed to spread his designing talent to other companies that are based in other parts of the world.
In 1966 Andrea Branzi together with his friends Massimo Morozzi, Paolo Deganello and Gilberto Corretti formed the Archizoom Association. This group went ahead to come with various radical designs. The main objective of Archizoom was to show the rest of the world that there was no need to be radical. This is because radicalism more often than not achieves the opposite of what it intends to achieve.
Radical decisions are often made in the heat of the moment, thus they are always irrational. Andrea Branzi was the most influential member of the Archizoom. Due to his influence he was able to revolutionize the Italian design industry.
The Archizoom, an organization in which Andrea Branzi was a member, managed to design chairs that went against conventional design at the time. It is believed that Andrea Branzi was more concerned with the language of objects rather than focusing on the stylistic aspect of the objects.
As an architectural designer Andrea Branzi was used to dealing with practical aspects of design. However, later on he became more interested in theoretical aspects of design. He thus contributed immensely to architectural magazines and journals. He was a one time editor of the “Casabella” magazine.
Andrea Branzi opened his first design studio in Milan in 1973. He managed to take part in one of Riccardo Dalisi’s projects which was known as Global Tools. This was between the late sixties and early seventies. In 1977 Andrea Branzi together with Paola Navone and Michelle de Lucchi organized an exhibition in Naviglio.
The exhibition managed to classify again Italian design after the war. This exhibition made a huge impact on the Italian fashion industry. Andrea Branzi has also managed to successfully show work in conjunction with Studio Alchimia. This he managed to do in 1979.
In the early eighties, Andrea Branzi did some design work for Memphis. The Memphis work involved designing ceramics and sofas which were referred to as the ‘Century.’ Andrea Branzi has made several designs for various organizations, including companies and non-profit making organizations. He has subsequently won several awards for his outstanding work.
Andrea Branzi has also designed several classy chairs, for example the Andrea Branzi Revered chair. This chair has a uniquely designed support structure made of lacquered aluminium which is metallic grey. Its seat in addition to the armrests and back are made of durable beach plywood.
The Revered chair comes in different shades and colours to ensure that every market segment is catered for. Various versions exist including one that has its seat padded with polyurethane foam. The upholstery of this design is made of fabric.
In addition to designing chairs for commercial purposes, Andrea Branzi has engaged in designing various objects that add aesthetic value to a house. Some of the objects that he designs include artificial flower vases and lamp holders.
